Irene Aldana is a Mexican professional mixed martial artist who competes in the bantamweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). She is the former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion. As of August 8, 2023, she is #4 in the UFC women's bantamweight rankings.

On Her Path to the Top

Aldana began her professional MMA career in 2012. She quickly rose through the ranks, winning her first eight fights. In 2016, she signed with Invicta FC, one of the top all-female MMA promotions in the world. In 2018, Aldana defeated Pam Sorenson to win the Invicta FC Bantamweight Championship. She successfully defended her title once before losing it to Macy Chiasson in 2019. Aldana signed with the UFC in 2020. She made her UFC debut against Ketlen Vieira, losing via split decision. She has since rebounded with three consecutive wins, including a victory over former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate. Aldana is now looking to earn a title shot against current UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes. She is ranked #4 in the division and has a record of 14-6. In a recent interview, Aldana said, "The goal is still the same. I want to be the UFC champion. I know it's not going to be easy, but I'm willing to put in the work. I'm confident in my abilities, and I believe that I can beat anyone in the division."
